Child and Youth Protection
Our Lady of Mercy is committed to providing a safe environment for children. The parish adheres to the norms of the diocesan Child Protection Program.
That program has 3 components: |
- fingerprints and/or background checks
- safe environment training
- acceptance of diocesan Code of Ethics for Adults Working with Minors

Part I
Print out the four page Application Form and upon completion return it to the church office. Note under "Declarations" (page 4) you must INITIAl each statement or your form will not be accepted.
Part II
"Safe Environment for Children" is now accessed in one of the following ways:
* via the BR Diocese Website
* by DVD: contact the church office to borrow [926.1883]
* through Cable TV - Channel 15; The Catholic Life Channel : search the viewing times for "Safe and Sacred".
After completing the training you will be prompted to take a brief test. When the test is successfully scored you will be allowed to print a certificate of training. Please send a copy of that document to Ms. Clare Coulon at the Church Office.
Part III
The Code of Ethics has been developed, Click Here to read it.
The Code of Ethics acknowledgment form found at the back of the document must be signed and returned to the church office. If you do not have access to the Internet, copies of the Code are available at the church office.
